Ministry  Opportunities

The Ursuline Sisters provide several ways you can explore your spirituality and their community:

  • Associate Membership

  • Vowed Membership

  • Companions in Mission

We offer Associate Memberships, where you, as a lay person, get to experience how Ursulines live and work.  Associates join us for a variety of endeavors, not the least of which is a mutually beneficial spiritual exchange.

Vowed membership allows you to be a sister in the Ursuline Order.  Key elements of a religious lifestyle are a wish to be of service, and a desire for personal growth through community living.  The process of full incorporation to vowed membership may take up to seven years and allows for continuous decision making at every step.

For more information on membership contact:  Sr. Susan Kienzler at kienzlers@aol.com or visit www.osucentral.org

Our Companions in Mission program invites women and men to share mission and ministry with the Ursuline Sisters.  Companions serve in the spirit of St. Angela Merici and in partnership with Ursuline Sisters in a variety of settings.

Volunteers may serve as resident or non-resident Companions, short-term or long-term, depending on the needs of the individual service sites and the desires of the volunteer.  With Ursuline support, each Companion experiences the opportunity for growth while reaching out in service to others.  In addition, resident Companions experience the gift and the challenge of a simple lifestyle lived in a community setting with Ursuline Sisters or in a living site arranged by the Ursulines.

What We Offer Resident Companions:

  • An opportunity to share ministry to live in a community setting

  • Clearly delineated role descriptions and expectations

  • An orientation and on-site training

  • Room and board

  • Periodic reflection experiences

  • The possibility of student loan deferments/education awards through the AmeriCorps program

    What We Offer Non-resident Companions:

    • An opportunity to share ministry with the prayer community

    • Clearly delineated role descriptions and expectations

    • An orientation and on-site training

    • Periodic reflection experiences

      What We Ask...
